Electric car subsidies in Serbia 2026

In 2026 the state gives 5.000 € for a new electric car; applications are submitted via eUprava until 1 December.

Who is eligible

Applications can be submitted by individuals, sole traders and legal entities. The eUprava service is for Serbian citizens; a foreigner with residence cannot use it.

The vehicle must be new: neither registered nor used before the application. The subsidy can also serve as the down payment in financial leasing — see loans and leasing.

Details: categories and the Decree
  • Car: passenger (M1) or light commercial (N1, up to 3,5 t). Motorcycle: L3–L7, including heavy tricycles. Moped: L1 and L2, including light tricycles.
  • Paid in dinars, at the NBS middle exchange rate on the day of payment.
  • Applicants are defined in Article 2 and the method of use in Article 5 of the Decree. One application can cover several vehicles of the same type and financing method.
  • The Decree has no upper price limit, no ban on selling within a year, no “one vehicle per applicant” restriction and no “minimum 15 % down payment for leasing”.

How to apply

  1. Log in to eUprava (ConsentID or a qualified electronic certificate): service 01107 for citizens, 01108 for legal entities.
  2. The documents listed in the Decree, 16 items, including homologation, the COC, a preliminary contract or pro forma invoice, the dealer's authorisation and account details.
  3. Complete applications are processed in the order received, as long as funds last.
  4. The money goes to the seller or the leasing company.

Applications have been open since 1 March. The original deadline, 30 September, was extended by a decree in Official Gazette 86/2026. The documents are listed in Article 6, paragraph 2 of the Decree; the COC is the certificate of conformity.

Budget status

By August over 1.000 applications had been received and about 600 vehicles funded, for about 3 million € (about 350 million RSD). That is twice the original budget: money has been added, but no new official limit has been published, not even after the budget revision the National Assembly adopted on 31 August. A complete application joins the queue. If the money runs out before 1 December, the allocation stops and the ministry announces it on its website. By 28 October neither the media nor eUprava had reported that the money had run out, and the eUprava service is active.

Details: timeline and 2025

The 170 million RSD budget (≈1,45 million €) was announced on 6 February. On 2 March the minister announced additional funds if the money ran out. 7–10 August: “five times more applications than last year”, roughly a third covered, the ministry is seeking more money. On 31 August the National Assembly adopted the budget revision; reports on the revision do not state the amount for the subsidies. On 10 September, with the deadline extended: far more money is needed than is available, and the ministry is seeking a larger budget for this purpose. Application status: eUprava or the ministry.

In 2025: 980 approved applications (207 individuals, 773 legal entities), almost 1.000 vehicles. The original 170 million was spent by August; according to the media, the total budget exceeded 450 million RSD. From 2020 to the end of 2025 the state paid out more than 1,67 billion RSD for over 3.800 vehicles, including hybrids.

Other benefits

There are no city purchase subsidies in Belgrade, Novi Sad or Niš. The state provides an exemption from the use tax and a 10 % toll discount. Customs duty and VAT: import and customs.
