Free charging does exist in Serbia — mostly on motorways, where the state has not yet introduced payment. Here are the locations we can confirm with a source, and those for which the data is out of date.

The motorway network has 36 chargers installed, 31 working, five being connected and three planned on new sections (JP “Putevi Srbije” website, checked 22.09.2026). Charging is free because payment is not yet regulated by law (Bloomberg Adria, 25.07.2025), and regulations for introducing payment are being prepared (B92, 19.06.2026). Chargers are activated through the Orion eMobility app; the locations can also be seen in Google Maps, Plug&Share and Virta.

Figures on the state chargers differ by source and date: in April 2026 NALED cited “only 18 in state ownership”, B92 in June reported 32 installed and 29 in operation, and the JP “Putevi Srbije” website in September 36 installed and 31 in operation. Two charging points: DC up to 20 kW (CCS and CHAdeMO) and AC 11 kW. Charging is free during store opening hours, every day 08–22, up to 60 minutes a day; it is started with any RFID card or the Lidl eCharge app (Lidl press release from 2022, user confirmation on evfix.rs from 2024). We have not confirmed whether other Lidl stores in Serbia also have chargers. Lidl eCharge card.
The Obilićev venac garage has 6 spaces with a charger (AC 22 kW, Type 2; the cable is kept by security), and according to 2021 data there are also chargers in the Pionirski park garage (2) and at the International Customs Terminal (2 + 6 for goods vehicles). Charging is free, you pay for parking — in 2021, 100 RSD per started hour for electric cars (120 RSD for other vehicles). We could not check the current 2026 garage price list. In 2021–2022 the media listed as free the chargers at Merkator, Beo Shopping Center, IKEA (“for some time yet”), Ada Mall, Belgrade Waterfront and the D10, Hyatt and Marriott hotels. Conditions may have changed since then and we have no new confirmation — so we do not list them as free. If you know the current situation at any of these locations (with a date), let us know.
For Tesla vehicles, users reported in 2023 that charging at Superchargers in Serbia was free; Tesla does not show a price for Serbia on its website. We could not confirm this information. Tesla card.
