A small electric car charging on a boulevard

The week in three sentences

The Volkswagen ID. Polo is on sale, one of the cheaper new electric cars in Serbia. A new guide shows how to pay less at a public charger that bills by the minute. Two free IKEA chargers in Belgrade are back on the map, and chargers in the region have been added.

News

  • Volkswagen ID. Polo on sale in Serbia: orders opened on 29 September. Car news sites cite a promotional price of 24.990 €; the terms of the offer have not been published. The 5.000 € subsidy applies to applications submitted by 1 December, while the money lasts.
  • Draft law on chargers: at chargers of 50 kW and above, the price would be set per kWh delivered, and on main roads there would be a charging station at least every 60 km. It is a draft, not a rule in force.
  • In the EU, one in five new cars is electric: 21,7 % of new registrations from January to August. In Serbia, in the first half of 2026, it was 2,74 % of new vehicles.

Public charging prices

The prices in the public charging price index are from the check of 22 September; the next check is in October. At fast chargers, a kWh cost 43 to 79 RSD according to receipts from August and September, and at home at night about 4–7 RSD.

  • How to pay less at a public charger: when you pay by the minute, a kWh is cheapest from 10–20 % to about 50 % of the battery, and up to 80 % it still pays off. Above 80 %, the same kWh costs 2–4 times more.
  • An electric car without a garage: for 1.000 km a month, charging in a garage at night costs 650–1.100 RSD, and at fast public chargers 6.900–12.600 RSD. A 100 € garage pays off through charging alone only from about 1.000–2.000 km a month.
  • The cost calculator has a new field “Rent for a garage with electricity” and shows from how many kilometres such a garage pays off.
  • Charging apps and cards: which app and RFID card work at which charger.

New on the charger map

  • IKEA, Belgrade: two free AC 22 kW chargers are back on the map. They are in row A9 of the car park, and you get the charging card at the information desk with your ID card, from 10 to 21 h.
  • Tesla Supercharger: the Belgrade point has been moved to the place on Tesla’s list, the AVA Shopping Park car park (8 stalls up to 250 kW). Aleksinac has 4 stalls up to 125 kW. Both are for Tesla vehicles only, and the “I have a Tesla” switch shows them as free, according to drivers.
  • Region: the map also shows chargers in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia, from open databases and without individual checks. The card of such a charger leads to the map of that country on blokvolt.com, which also has the network prices.
  • From zoom level 12, the price is shown next to each charger, and the charger card has an “Exact location” section with the address and coordinates.

24 of the 36 state-owned chargers on motorways are working, according to the list of JP “Putevi Srbije” of 23 September: status by location.
