Charger photos: what to photograph

What to photograph

• the whole charger, with the network's branding;
• the connectors and the label showing the power;
• the screen or sticker with the price;
• the way to the charger: the garage entrance, the row in the car park, a signpost.

The photo should be sharp, and what it shows should be clear without explanation. One good photo is more useful than five similar ones.

What not to photograph

A photo in which faces or number plates are clearly visible is not published. The same applies to a photo you did not take yourself, for example one downloaded from the internet.

If a car is in the frame, photograph it so that the number plate cannot be read. Do not photograph people or number plates up close.

Step by step

1. On the map, open the charger card.
2. In the “Drivers' experience” section, press “Add a photo”. Your phone offers the camera or the gallery.
3. Choose one photo. While it is being sent, “Sending…” is shown.
4. The message “Thank you! The photo will appear after review.” means that the photo has arrived.

Before sending, the browser shrinks the photo to at most 1.600 pixels on the longer side and saves it again as a JPEG. This way, no location or phone data (EXIF) is sent.

When it appears

All photos wait for review. Reviews are done by the site's editor, usually within a few days.

A published photo appears on the card as a thumbnail, and tapping it opens it full screen. There is also a “Report the photo” link: a photo reported by two visitors is hidden until it is reviewed again.

If that does not help

• “This image cannot be sent. Try a JPEG.” The browser cannot open that format, for example a HEIC photo from an iPhone on a computer. Save it as a JPEG or send it from your phone.
• “Too many reports for today. Please try tomorrow.” The number of photos per day from one connection is limited.
• “Many photos of this charger are already waiting for review.” Try again in a few days, once they have been reviewed.
• “Sending failed. Please try again.” Check your connection and send it again.
