Renting an electric car

A few days with a rented electric car show whether it suits you and where you would charge it, before you buy one.

Translated from Serbian. Where the exact wording matters, the Serbian original applies.

Under the KiBOST price list, a Tesla Model 3 for a week costs 7 × 70 € = 490 €. A month at the 30-day rate is 30 × 30 € = 900 €.

A week is enough to see how many kilometres you really drive, where you would charge and how long charging takes. Prices of new models: electric car prices.

Charging a rented car

Public chargers charge for time. On a Charge&GO AC 22 kW charger an hour costs 1.000 RSD, and on the DC 50 kW at OMV Ada Ciganlija 33,33 RSD per minute. How to make each kWh cheaper: cheaper public charging.

There are Tesla Superchargers in Belgrade (AVA Shopping Park) and Aleksinac. Charging starts through a Tesla account, so ask whose account it is and who pays.

Details: charging from an ordinary socket

If the car comes with a cable for a šuko socket, at 10 A it takes about 2,3 kW. That is about 13,5 km per hour, or about 108 km in 8 hours overnight, before losses. In detail: charging from a šuko socket.

Without your own parking space and socket, you are left with public chargers and a garage with electricity: electric car without a garage.

What to ask before signing

  • With how much battery you get the car and with how much you return it. What returning it with less costs. Gama Rent, for example, hands over the car with at least 80 % and asks for it back in the same state.
  • Who pays for charging and whether the car has a card or an account in a network’s app.
  • Whether a Type 2 cable for public AC chargers and a cable for a šuko socket are included.
  • For a Tesla: may it charge at a Supercharger and who pays.
  • Deposit, comprehensive insurance and excess, mileage limit.
  • May the car leave Serbia and how to charge it there.
  • What to do if the battery runs flat on the road.
